About the Artist
Sam MacDonald was born on the Isle of Lewis in 1964. His formative years were spent on Lewis and Orkney, where he developed a love of the rivers and the sea that surrounded his home. After gaining a B.A. (Hons) in metal working from Camberwell School of Art in London, he returned to Orkney, where he began working on his marine sculptures in earnest and perfecting his signature style.
A keen fisherman and diver, MacDonald s fascination with aquatic wildlife and habitats continues to inspire and inform his artwork, allowing him to create stunning pieces that capture the singular colours and textures found only in the world beneath the waves.
