Peter Symonds, born 1964, has been painting captivating scenery for most of his adult life and capturing their beauty on canvas.
Symonds holds a particular adoration of Scottish mountains, and states that they are his main source of inspiration. His passion and commitment to the natural environment is one that will hold a lifelong place in his heart.Symonds holds a particular adoration of Scottish mountains and states that they are his main source of inspiration
Symonds thoroughly enjoys spending time outdoors, and describes himself as a Munro Bagger having climbed over 100 so far and continuing to quench his thirst for climbing. Regularly embarking on walking and camping trips alone, Symonds can spend days at a time in what he describes as ‘wild places’, which he finds aid his artistic understanding of the landscapes he captures.

Working exclusively with oil on canvas, Symonds is self-taught in his medium. However, during his early career he enjoyed the guidance of wildlife artist David Shepherd, who is a fond admirer of Symonds work.
Symonds' work is characterised by his attention to mood within the subject.
The skies within his work are particularly well-observed
