About Tweed
Tweed's humble beginnings reach back to the early 19th century when it was first hand-woven in Scotland, as warm, hard-working wear for crofters. When the nobility of the British Isles stayed in Scotland, they adopted tweed, wearing it on their grand Highland estates, particularly for country sports. With traditional designs including checks, herringbones and barleycorns, tweed has become an icon of British and Scottish style.
